Karen inspires me to put up here something that I wrote recently while waiting for a friend. :) I don't usually do poetry and I have spent a little time working on the syllables and rhythym but I don't think I technically have meter down.

A smile and a quick glance away
marks the moment of our first contact;
Why am I afraid to convey
the sight of you makes me react;
A smile--oh that smile.

Your smile taunts me with thoughts of biting your lip.

A smile prompts me to try to find
the courage to stammer, "Hello";
I wonder if anyone would mind
anyone with the power to just say, "No"'
A smile--oh that smile makes me think of more.

Your smile taunts me with thoughts of your hand on my hip.

A smile leads to thoughts so diverse:
how hot it would be if we necked,
the positions we could rehearse,
for with practice our movements we could perfect;
A smile--oh that smile makes me want much more.

Your smile taunts me with thoughts of you holding me with your firm grip.

A smile can be only a smile
so I will just blush and demur,
Intensely hoping all the while
that my smile countenance does confer
A smile--oh that smile...

I'm longing for more than just your smile.

    Yo! You gots some SKILLZ!

    I love your sultry refrain with its consistant rhyme but surprising twists.
    (keeping a consistant rhythm and pattern flowing while keeping things exciting)
    and then POW... that ending...

    "more than just your smile"

    y'know... this addresses a sentiment that is floating around...

    Perhaps this is my own projection or whatnot,
    but its funny how you focus on this "smile"
    -which is the "happy face" we put on and that people prefer
    sexual suggestiveness aside (including kink)
    I think its ENTIRELY erotic when there is suggestion
    of wanting a person ENTIRELY
    -that is, MORE than just a smile.

    It suggests wanting to REALLY know someone.

    THAT is what I consider beautiful.

    Oh - I know that smile. A smile such as this graces me once a week.

    However - what if that smile beams from a face that is not used to smiling?
    I have been told recently: "Seeing your smile makes my smile that much bigger," and, "There you go making me smile again."
    Receiving/witnessing a smile is heavenly. Causing a smile is a benediction.

    Gal, if you see a smile, revel in the fact that you have put it there.

    I love your poem, esp. "taunts me with thoughts of biting your lip." Yum!
    I also love your play with meter and rhythm.

    PS - as a speaker of Spanish, I have to include the loveliness of the Spanish word for smile: "sonrisa."
